It requires residents to practice social distancing and follow stay-at-home orders, staying indoors except for essential trips to the store and recreational walks. In this first phase, nonessential businesses and activities such shopping malls, theaters, sporting events, hair salons, barber shops and casinos are shut down.
Businesses that provide essential health and safety services have stayed open, including grocery and hardware stores, pharmacies, hospitals, Beginning Ends, medical centers, banks and gas stations. Restaurants -- as well as pubs and bars in states such as New Jersey -- are considered essential, but require you to pick up your order or have it delivered instead of sitting down to eat.
While outdoors, residents are required to avoid large groups, practice social distancing and, in some regions, are mandated to wear protective face masks. For many, this is the phase their state is moving into. The US government, working with public health advisers, suggests that quarantine restrictions can begin to ease after:.
California has loosened restrictions on construction and certain DMV operations and reopened parking lots for state parks.
Restaurants are open for takeout and delivery. The state is also looking at how professional sports events can return this summerperhaps following Germany's model. States in Phase 2 are starting to open businesses that are considered low-risk for spread of the virus, such as Beginning Ends supply stores, construction sites and manufacturing locations.
To return to work and school, expect social distancing requirements indoors for example, keeping desks six feet apart and potentially temperature checks as part of the condition of entering a building or classroom. The most Beginning Ends people, including older people and those with underlying conditions, may still be required or encouraged to shelter in place.
With dwindling daily cases and more widespread testingstate leaders will move to this phase and reopen higher-risk businesses where customers and workers are in close contact for longer periods of time, such as nail shops and hair salons. Gyms and movie theaters may also open in this phase. Some states, such as Georgiaare already moving to this phase. As states carefully relax restrictions, contact tracing will play an increasingly important role in monitoring the spread of the virus.
Contact tracing is a long-accepted tool used by public health officials to identify infected individuals and anyone who may have come in close proximity with the person who tested positive for the disease. To help identify possible new COVID cases, health officials are looking to our mobile phones to build a list of contacts.
The goal of the first three phases is to bring us to a point of community-wide resistance to the coronavirus. The other approach is through a vaccine, which is still thought to be a year or more away. Once we do have Beginning Ends safe and effective vaccine or antiviral medicine to protect and treat the population, authorities will be able to fully lift social-distancing orders and bring on a new normalcy. Reopening public transit and other methods of mass transportation such as airline and train travel for nonessential trips is an important but potentially higher-risk stage, because passengers are often in close contact for extended periods of time.
Domestic airline travel already comes with a set of restrictionsbut international vacations aren't currently encouraged. And in some cases they aren't even possible, as airlines have cut routes.
States will also look to relaxing interstate travel: Some states, including Hawaii and Rhode Islandrequire anyone who arrives in the state -- resident, visitor or tourist -- to self-quarantine for 14 days.
As your state opens up, you'll still want to take steps to make sure you stay safe. See our First Day of Summer page. On the autumnal equinoxday and night are each about 12 hours long with the actual time of equal day and night, in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring a few days after the autumnal equinox. The Sun crosses the celestial equator going southward; it rises exactly due east and sets exactly due west. See our First Day of Fall page. The Sun reaches its most southern point Beginning Ends the sky in the Northern Hemisphere at local noon.
See our First Day of Winter page. Lived all my life in northerly climes. Retired to southerly climes. Wish I had done this 20 years ago :. Summer and spring are my favorite seasons; I love the warm weather of spring, and also, my birthday's in the summer!
August 5. I love decorating my porch, raking leaves and the beautiful color of the trees, pumpkins and warm cider too. We live really close to a acre park and the smell of the campfires in the air is something to remind me fall is here!
The change from hot summer to cool fall is the best. It brings back memories of being in high school going to football games and having parties around a bon fire. The smell of dead leaves brings back so many childhood memories out in the yard playing. And you cant forget Halloween! The best holiday of all!!! But when it comes to winter it sure finds a way to where out its welcome.
Being originally from southern New Brunswick, Canada I was brought into this world in late Autumn and my siblings are all 1st. Farm territory, hunting, fishing, trapping and lumbering! Spent a heck of alot of time on my Grandparents farm which was in my mum's family since approx. My grandfather being a Spencer! Oh, why?
Well it's truly the survival season and a lot around the farm reflects all year what one has to do to prepare for it! It has a super blessing of bringing the coldest of cold and this wipes the earth clean of all it's tesitude of diseases and for this one miracle alone I cherish winter! Have a super winter, hot chocolate, warm cider and a wee dram of what ale's the spirit!
Thank you, N. Bryant from Toronto! I love the spring, its feel good time, because all the trees a d plants start to bud andbloom pit, everything comes back to life again, iove that all the beauty Round us.
I like weather that ranges from the 60's to middle 80's with no strong wind. And I don't like winter very much but it is Wyoming. So I probably like the middle to late spring and early summer weather the best for my favorite season. If I had a favorite presipitation I would take the rain over snow. I like longer daylight, but don't like the bugs that come out in the spring and summer. I have a love for all seasons.
Winter for its icy beauty and quiet calm. Spring for its renewal of our spirits. Summer for its playfulness. And fall for its humbling gratitude of what mother earth has given us. Spring for the tress starting to bud. Summer because it's warmer. Fall for the beautiful colors of the trees.
I live in NE so I love them all. I would be bored with just 1 or 2. Each season brings a new way of looking at the world. My problem is that I would like more time to enjoy each one of them. Amazing explanation on our Seasons, all four are my favourite, do they support each other for the greater good-oh what a mighty God we serve! I love the winter months most of all because of the cold.
Love summer! Love the longer hours of daylight. The warm sunshine. Beach days, blooming flowers! Love everything about summer! Here in North Carolina, I love fall the best!
The fall foliage is beautiful, the temperature is just right, and barring hurricanes! The only downside is the days are getting shorter and darkness falls sooner and sooner, but there's a golden mellow to fall that I adore. I love the Summer the best. I really enjoy having the windows open all the time and I adore the heat. I love the four images you have for the four seasons, they are so magical and vibrant.
My favourites are the part of summers not too hot, the parts of fall and winter not too cold, and all of spring. I think seasons are more beautiful if you have beautiful people to share them with! Everything comes alive again! The sweet little crocus coming up in the warm sun, even threw a coating of snow!
