The Fear family curse was always my favorite storyline, so having a new trilogy that starts off by demolishing the Fear Mansion was right up my alley. I only read this trilogy once or twice when it first came out, but as soon as I started reading this yesterday it all came back to me.

I had entirely too much fun reading this, and can't wait to read the next two since I remember them a lot less clearly. Jun 04, Amber rated it it was amazing.
I love this author what a blast from my past so much spine chilling fun lol Aug 29, D. Sep 03, Yuiko rated it it was ok. This one sucked 70 pages in and I'm bored.
Typical teen horror Fear Street fare. The Fear Street relaunch series seemed to be more fully fleshed out stories per book but this was still fun, nice and quick to read too. Feb 16, Amanda Walker rated it it was amazing.
I love that this Triology contains the Fear family in modern day Shadyside. I can't wait to finish the series. Mar 13, Kristine The Writer's Inkwell rated it it was ok Shelves: reading-challenger-l-stinefear-streethorror-reading-challenge. Stine, let alone have read in the past. These clearly came out once I had already outgrown the series and thus, stopped looking for new books.
The background story is that the town is fed up with all of the rumors and myths about Fear Street and have voted to tear down all of the houses the Fear mansion, included and build a large shopping center. I suppose you Antes De Partir - Moonlight Fear - Geminis (CD to give Stine credit for keeping up with the times.
But the irony is they were able to tear everything apart without any incidences. So one would assume it would happen again, right? Anyways, Jamie and Lewis begin sneaking out every night and basically do nothing. Eventually other kids catch on and it seems the entire senior and junior class at Shadyside are stalking the streets every night.
Anyways, one night they discover a secret room filled with all sorts of witchcraft paraphernalia, jewelry and other antiques. Of course, this seems improbable, as the house has been searched time and time again, not only in this book, but in other books. But whatever. They all take some for themselves. They go to investigate before everything is completely gone from the site and fall into a pit and nearly die. Once again, these kids never get caught. Never after a year of dozens of them sneaking out, do they get caught.
Not even in the bar! My sense of disbelief is on such high alert at this point that I might just have a coronary. Seems a little convenient, right? Everyone starts magically bringing out these things they looted from the Fear house. One girl who was introduced as someone new to the group even produces a necklace.
The story line starts to become confusing and honestly, inconsistent. While I usually love the use of paranormal sources in these books, all of the little mistakes about the group and the details really make it hard to stay interested… until they kill poor Candy.
Now, on to the next book, which is actually a continuation of this story. Wish me luck and lots of patience. Nov 12, Carly Ogborne rated it liked it. Reading an R. Stine book in adulthood feels a little like returning to your hometown after a long absence. There's a sense of comfort in the familiar and a sense of outrage at any changes; changes like the Fear Street Mansion being demolished to build a crappy shopping centre. No word on the Fear Street woods, where no bird has ever cast its shadow, but you know that's going to be pulp as well.
You can't fight progress, even when it's fictional. I guess its kind of a neat device employed by Sti Reading an R. I guess its kind of a neat device employed by Stine or his ghostwriter - new millennium, new kids, new Fear Street.
And who knows, there may be some Dawn of the Dead style shenanigans in the new centre. A girl can only hope. Onto the story. We open with Lewis and Jamie sneaking out of their house late at Antes De Partir - Moonlight Fear - Geminis (CD so they can make out in the old Fear Mansion. Soon their friends begin to join them and the Night People are born. The best part was the cockroaches - the most terrifying, a car accident that was literally my worst fear in the world when I drove a two door.
Stupid two doors. But this is what I love about Stine - his books, despite their clunky teenage dialogue and rather conservative values here, Stine or ghostwriter takes pains to let us know that Jamie and Lewis halt their make out sessions when things get too hot and heavy are often genuinely terrifying. I used to think that the Goosebumps series were scarier than Fear Street but Moonlight Secrets is pretty creepy.
Is view spoiler [a kid having his lips and tongue ripped off by a statue hide spoiler ] creepier than Slappy the demonic dummy? Probably not. Slappy's pretty effing creepy. Still, it's close.
Pro - The teenagers pilfering a hidden room in the Fear Street mansion. Dude, Angelica is going to be pissed! Con - I know I've already mentioned the awkward teen lingo but seriously, Stine or ghostwriter, just hang out with actual teenagers for a bit, hey? In Nate's opening chapter you've got him flashing a thumbs up, bumping fists, and slapping a high five. Is he supposed to be a douchebag frat boy? Midnight Games review will probably be put up tomorrow, and then I'll get back to reading some real shit.
Feb 23, Yuthika rated it it was ok. Teens being out and about at night; you'd think they'd do something more than hang out at a club. Well, no. They didn't do much. They did nothing. Why exactly were they the Night people, other than them being out at 'night'? The characters were not very well constructed - Shark is arrogant, and Nate is just mildly interesting. Clearly, I have outgrown Fear Street books, but I will have to read the second one in this trilogy to find out what exactly was happening.
I liked the back story with the Teens being out and about at night; you'd think they'd do something more than hang out at a club. I liked the back story with the Fear family and I hope to discover more. Mar 18, Sheryl Karrip rated it it was amazing. Moonlight Secrets by:R. L Stine This book was like a scary but chilled thriller.
The author made you feel like this book was real, Album). The more you read the more suspence there was. We feel something heavy on our shoulders we look up and realize we were getting buried alive! Th Moonlight Secrets by:R. The way the author wrote this book was very well planned out because i didnt know what to expect next. When i had to stop reading i was always left hanging.
I was hooked right away. The one thing i didnt like about this book is that it was everywhere from the house to the bar to a house it didnt stay in one place for more that 2 pages. But the father i read i caught up.
I felt like the book was being read to me,this is a very easy and simple book. This book was very detailed and explianed everything! The author did a very nice job on it. This is a very unique book from all the other books i have read.
I liked all the charaters besides for Candy. You have to read the book yourself to find out why. Lewis is kinda his own person he likes to take photos and record everything so thats what he did in the old haunted house. Jamie is shy and the scared type. Then Candy is scary and evil. The other charaters are always out there not afraid. I recommend this book to people who like thriller and suspend.
And people who like quick and easy books. View 1 comment. Apr 12, Mariammm rated it really liked it. L Stine is one of the best for me in horror, as I basically like most others grew up reading and watching Goosebumps! The characters were really well done, their relationships as not just teenage lovers but their friendship s as a group, how they start off as a couple knowing about a cursed secret base which later is revealed to others but is still kept a secret from adults and so on was a cool part of the plot. The characters were really likeable, all of them from the series, but you did at times not know who to trust.
So it really kept you going, wanting to know who was 'next' etc. The horror was definitley the best, It was depicted in a way that really made you uncomfortable, i didnt even know R.
L stine wrote for younger adults till I found this gem of a series. All in all, coming back to this,it was a total nostalgic read and since im re-reading the series, I can easily remember how worth it, it was. Jul 14, Nat rated it did not like it Shelves: incomplete. I thought it would be a good idea to put a bunch of R.
Stine books on hold at the library. I think I stopped reading his new stuff back inafter it was clear to me that he was no longer going to be writing anything worth wasting my eyesight on. The last decent book was inand the last really good book was I still enjoy reading R. Stine books from about I didn't expect much from Moonlight secrets, so I can't say I was disappointed that 52 pages in, and now I'm out. I didn't expect much from Moonlight secrets, so I can't say I was disappointed that it sucked eggs.
I did find myself disappointed that R. Stine was still trotting out the same tired junk from a decade earlier. Fear Street is so obviously played out that it's sad. I have some of his books from last year and this year on the way, and I can already see that even two decades later, R. Stine has not changed tactics.
I know they say if it ain't broke don't fix it, but this author's work broke a long time ago. I guess he didn't get the memo. May 26, Lilly Zheng rated it really liked it. The spirits from the dead as awaken and is no haunting the night people.
