    The Robert Cray Band: 4 Nights Of 40 Years Live Interestingly, Cray didn’t release a live album until ’s Live From Across The Pond, but this is his fourth since then, so he has clearly warmed to the format. It’s also fair to say that Cray’s unassuming style works better in concert than in the studio, where it can feel somewhat 4/5.

    Robert Cray was born on August 1, , in Columbus, Georgia, while his father was stationed at Fort Benning. Cray's musical beginnings go back to when he was a student at Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia. While there, he played in his first band, The One-Way Street. His family eventually settled in the Tacoma, Washington, area.
